Driver critical after crashing into two cars

The car hit a vehicle of the same make and model on Aitchison Street

A man is critically ill after his car was involved in a crash with two vehicles in Airdrie.

Police said the silver Nissan Qashqai hit a parked van in the town's High Street before striking a red Qashqai on nearby Aitchison Street.

Officers closed off the road for eight hours following the incident, which happened at about 20:50 on Saturday.

The driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is being treated for "life-threatening injuries".

Police said the man in the red car was treated at nearby Monklands hospital.

Officers have appealed for anyone in the area with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
