A vintage car, fashion and music festival is returning to Gloucester for its ninth year.

More than 500 cars will fill the historic Gate Streets and Gloucester Docks for the annual Gloucester Goes Retro festival.

New for this year, Kings Square will be host to the Revival Zone with a vintage and antiques fair and a disco.

The free event, which begins at 10:00 BST on 24 August, is organised and funded by Gloucester City Council in partnership with the Gloucester Business Improvement District.

Visitors will find hundreds of vintage cars dating from 1900 to 1990, with brands including Aston Martin, Jensen, Bentley, Triumph and Morris.

The event will extend down to the Gloucester Docks, where there will be more classic cars, food and live music on the Mariners Square Stage.

Next to the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, there will be a Military Village, featuring a REME 32-tonne recovery vehicle and a World War Two hellcat.

A 124-year-old schooner - the Kathleen & May - the last British built wooden hull will be open to the public from 11:00-17:00.

Councillor Caroline Courtney, cabinet member for culture and leisure at Gloucester City Council, said: "Gloucester Goes Retro is one of the highlights of our city’s year.

"It’s a fantastic atmosphere and everyone is here to enjoy themselves and make the most of our beautiful city.

"It’s also a great chance to support local businesses and enjoy all that Gloucester has to offer."
