Mark Bond has pulled a double-decker bus full of people and walked 5k with a washing machine on his back, but his latest challenge is set to top the others.

The 55-year-old from Evesham, in Worcestershire, is aiming to haul a tipper lorry more than 30m to raise money for charity.

"I've had family and friends that have been diagnosed with cancer; some have passed, and others are in recovery, but regardless, I thought maybe I should do something to help cancer research," said Mr Bond, who works as a car valet.

He will take on the challenge on Monday at Vale Park in Evesham at 14:00 BST and said spectators are welcome.

John Lee, operations director at Jet Plant Hire, has offered a tipper lorry to support Mr Bond's charity fundraiser. He said when he heard about the challenge, he was keen to do whatever he could.

"We donate at the end of every year a proportion of our profits to local charities, hospices, and welfare for children.

"I think everybody gets touched with cancer, yet, whether it be family or friends, cancer is something that we've got to get a solution to," Mr Lee said.

Mr Bond said preparation for the pull was going well.

"A lot of gym work has gone into it, and I'm deadlifting about 150kg.

"On the day I'll be attached to the lorry by some straps, a harness and I'll have a three-metre rope which will be assisting, and I'll lean into and pull like hell," he said.
