Two men have been charged with murder over the death of children's nurse Karen Cummings.

The 40-year-old mother was found unconscious with a serious head injury in Laurel Heights in Banbridge, County Down on Saturday evening. She died at the scene.

BBC News NI understands a firearm was involved in her death.

The men, aged 32 and 42, are due to appear at Newry Court on Wednesday - the younger man is charged with murder while the older man is also charged with firearm-related offences and handling stolen goods.

Police have previously described Ms Cummings' death as "brutal and senseless".

The 42-year-old was arrested on Saturday while the second man was arrested in the Banbridge area on Sunday.

A vigil for Ms Cummings, who worked in Daisy Hill Hospital, is due to take place on Thursday evening in Solitude Park, Banbridge.
