Two men have been charged with the terror offence of arranging to leave the UK to join the Islamic State (IS) group.
Oliver William Rea, 24, from Arnold, Nottinghamshire, and Muhammad Bham, 19, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, were arrested on 29 October as part of an intelligence-led operation, Counter Terrorism Policing North East (CTPNE) said.
The men have been charged with engaging in conduct in preparation of an act of terrorism under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006.
The UK nationals were remanded into custody, officers said, and are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Mr Rea is also charged with:
Three counts of disseminating terrorist publications that encourage terrorism under section two of the Terrorism Act 2006
Two counts of inviting support for IS under section 12(1) of the Terrorism Act 2000
Two counts of expressing support for a proscribed organisation, namely Al-Qaeda and IS, under section 12(1A) Terrorism Act 2000
CTPNE said the arrests followed an operation supported by West Yorkshire Police, Nottinghamshire Police and Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands, with the offences alleged to have taken place between 15 March and 29 October.
