Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a single-car crash on a dual carriageway in Nottinghamshire.

Emergency services were called to the A1 northbound, between the B6326 near Balderton and the A46 near Newark, at about 03:40 BST on Saturday.

Nottinghamshire Police said a man, in his 30s, and a woman, in her 60s, suffered serious injuries and have been taken to hospital.

The force said the road was shut, but it has since reopened, adding that congestion built up during the closure may take time to clear.
