A new light and sound show exploring "lost worlds" has opened in a medieval cathedral.

Sarum Lights returns to Salisbury Cathedral from 4 - 8 November, with mythical worlds and prowling dinosaurs appearing in this year's immersive event.

Created by art company Luxmuralis, the installation begins outside, where a kaleidoscopic display of Greek gods, Roman art and Etruscan iconography is projected on the building.

The Very Rev Nick Papadopulos, Dean of Salisbury Cathedral, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of visitors from all across Salisbury and beyond for this spectacular event."

During the event, the exterior and interior cloisters of the cathedral will be filled with bright lights and soundscapes, illuminating the Grade I-listed building.

Inside the cathedral, visitors will be greeted by knights and castles, with medieval manuscripts, art and maps from the Middle Ages illuminating the architecture.

At the east end of the cathedral, visitors will see imagery of the Garden of Eden filling the Trinity Chapel, while in the nave of the cathedral, visitors will experience a journey through lost words such as Atlantis and Troy, and an encounter with dinosaurs.

Sarum Lights: Lost Worlds, will run from 17:30 GMT each evening.

Low sound screenings for visitors are available from 17:30 to 18:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
