Boy held on suspicion of arson after bungalow fire

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a bungalow under renovation in Leicestershire.

Leicestershire Police said it was called by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service to Colby Drive, in Thurmaston, at about 15:30 BST on Sunday.

No-one was inside the property and no injuries have been reported, the force added.

The arrested teenager was detained on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remains in custody.

The fire service added four crews and an aerial ladder platform attended the blaze at the house, which was well alight and under renovation at the time of the fire.

The blaze has since been extinguished.

Several roads were closed and have since reopened, while police inquiries continue.
