A man died when the car he was driving hit a tree then crashed into another car in Derby.

Derbyshire Police said officers were called to Warwick Avenue in Normanton at 22:05 BST on Friday.

It was reported a black Seat Ibiza had struck a tree before crashing into a black Seat Leon.

The driver of the Ibiza, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, the force said.

The road was closed overnight as investigations were carried out but reopened on Saturday morning.

Police said the Ibiza had been travelling from Manor Road towards Kenilworth Drive, and have appealed for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage taken in the area at the time to contact them.
