An oil refinery in North Lincolnshire has appeared in a feature film.

The Humber Refinery near South Killingholme was used as a location for Kraven the Hunter.

It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Russell Crowe and is based on a Marvel Comics character.

Filmmakers visited the site two years ago and photographed the refinery before recreating it using computer graphics.

A spokesperson for the refinery described the result as "ridiculously accurate".

"It is impossible to tell their background from the real thing," they added.

"At the time we didn't know what film it was."

CGI was used as the site was unable to accommodate the more than 250 cast and production staff required for location filming.

A scaffold was built on the top of the main building and a crew shot different angles over a number of days before computer generating the whole refinery.

The film was released in cinemas in December and, according to distributors Sony Pictures, tells the story "of how one of Marvel's most iconic villains came to be".
