Helicopter called to capsized boat rescue
- Published
A helicopter was called to a capsized boat in a lake, with initial reports that children were in the water.
Furness and Arnside Coastguard raced to the scene at Windermere, Cumbria, on Thursday evening.
However a search by the Coastguard's helicopter found just one person in the lake, who was sitting on top of the upturned boat.
They were taken ashore and handed over to paramedics for assessment and treatment.
The fire service, police, lakes wardens, a mountain rescue team, Ulverston Inshore rescue and the Great Northern Ambulance Team all joined the rescue operation.
