Man arrested after money box stolen from mosque

A man has been arrested after a money box was stolen from a mosque in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police received a report of the theft from the Paigham-E-Islam Trust Masjid on Stratford Road at about 02:40 GMT on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the force said an intruder had managed to get into the mosque before making off with the cash.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been taken into custody for questioning.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.
