Burst sewer pipe closes car park in Weybridge

Thames Water said customers are able to continue using wastewater services

A pressurised sewer main which serves the local area in Weybridge has burst.

Thames Water , externalsaid it is on site at Churchfield car park and is using tankers "to reduce the risk of further flooding".

The car park, in Churchfield Road, has been closed while the utility company makes emergency repairs to the main sewer.

A spokesperson said: "There has been no flooding to customers and they are able to continue using their wastewater services as normal."

The company said it is managing the flows from the sewer pipe.

"We recognise this may cause noise and traffic disruption and we are working to keep this to a minimum," the spokesperson said.

Thames Water expects to be on site for the next two weeks.

Elmbridge Borough Council said the town's car parks on Baker Street and Monument Hill remain open.
