More than 100 firefighters are tackling a blaze at an industrial estate in east London.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was called to Ferry Lane in Rainham at 13:11 BST where a warehouse containing multiple industrial units had caught fire.

Around 125 firefighters and 25 fire engines from Barking, East Ham, Wennington, Dagenham and Kent Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene.

Residents living nearby have been advised to keep their doors and windows shut due to the smoke and to avoid Ferry Lane if possible.

The brigade said that a 25-metre (82ft) cordon is in place as a precaution, and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

"People are advised to keep windows and doors shut in the local area due to the high volume of smoke being produced and avoid Ferry Lane if possible," a spokesperson for the LFB said.

"This may be a protracted incident, with crews on scene for several hours to come."
