A children’s play area had to be closed following vandalism.

Huntingdonshire District Council said vandals caused damage to the safety surfacing throughout the site at Crocus Way in Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, and some of the play equipment was smeared with glue.

The play area will remain closed for "at least a few weeks" while contractors resurfaced the area, the council said.

Cambridgeshire Police said it was informed of the incident on Thursday and was investigating.
