Rape arrest after city park attack

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked in a city centre park.
Part of East Park in Southampton was cordoned off after reports a woman, in her 40s, was raped at about 05:00 BST on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed a 22-year-old man from London has now been arrested on suspicion of rape.
The man remains in police custody and the woman is being supported by specialist officers.
The force spokesperson said there had been an increased police presence in the area over the weekend, following the incident.
