Two anglers have been rescued after becoming stranded on a sandbar in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Port William Inshore Rescue Service crew was called out just before 08:30 on Sunday after the men were spotted up to their chests in water at the River Luce.

Local coastguard teams, the Stranraer RNLI Lifeboat and an HM Coastguard helicopter were also sent to the scene.

The men were picked up by the inshore rescue team before being taken to the shore.
