Jurassic Coast sauna hut given go-ahead
- Published
A popular tourist hotspot is set to get a new seaside sauna hut.
Plans for the timber-clad building, which will be assembled on Swanage seafront, have been approved by Dorset Council.
Measuring 17 sq m (55 sq ft), the structure will be built on a hardstanding in Shore Road.
Similar saunas have been built on the Jurassic Coast recently, including at Seatown and Studland.
The application was made by Wareham-based company Swanage Bay Sauna, which also runs a hut at Knoll Beach in Studland.
Situated on land owned by Swanage Town Council, the sauna will be open from 07:00 to 19:00 BST on weekdays and weekends.
It will have three rooms, including a larger communal sauna, a smaller private sauna and an office/reception room.
The building will be painted black with grey glazed windows, which will allow a view out, but not in.
