A man has been arrested following a stabbing in Redditch.

West Mercia Police said a man believed to have been stabbed, was found seriously injured on Evesham Road near to Park Inn Public House at 20:40 BST on Friday.

Officers later arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Det Sgt Theresa Vaughan said: "Although we have one person arrested in connection with this incident, we would like to appeal for any witnesses who may have information to help us piece together what has happened.

"A police presence will remain at the scene for some time as enquiries are carried out, but it is not believed there is any further threat to the wider public."
