An enhanced train service will be operating during the weekend of Brighton Pride, Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) has said.
The rail operator that manages Southern and Thameslink has announced plans to run additional trains with extra carriages.
The Brighton Pride event, which dates back to 1973 and is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, is due to take place from 2-5 August.
Paul Kemp, managing director of Brighton & Hove Pride, said train services were essential for its future success.
He said: “We have had many months of planning meetings with GTR, and we are grateful to the whole team for committing time and effort to plan the best possible services over this summer’s Pride weekend.”
Last year, trains to and from Brighton were cancelled during Pride weekend due to an overtime ban by the drivers, as well as wind and rain from Storm Antoni.
Chris Fowler, head of network operations at GTR, said: “With so many fantastic things to see and do across Brighton & Hove Pride weekend, we’re really looking forward to bringing people to and from the city to celebrate Pride.
“As this is a largescale event, we’re again working incredibly closely with event organisers and city partners to ensure Pride visitors can have lots of fun, whilst keeping safe.”
Girls Aloud and Mika have been confirmed as headliners, with other acts including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Billy Porter and S Club.
