A council wants to hear from parents and carers in a bid to improve school attendance of pupils.

Devon County Council said more than one in every three secondary school pupils was persistently absent from school across the county.

It said the absence figure for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities was even higher.

The authority wants to gather feedback from parents to help individuals and families struggling with school attendance.

It said understanding what parents, carers and young people thought about school attendance would help to shape the offer of support.

It added that educational psychologists would help individuals and families who struggled with school attendance.

People have until the 28 June to give their feedback, external.
