Changes made to bus services - including new route
- Published
Bus services in Somerset have been shaken up in an effort to improve service and capacity issues.
Among the changes are more journeys on the 28 routes from Taunton to Minehead, as well as new timetables on services in the county town.
There will also be a new route between Yeovil and Yeovilton's Royal Navy air base as part of a summer-long trial.
Buses of Somerset said the changes were in response to traveller feedback.
'Listen to the community'
In Taunton, both the 2 and 4 have new timetables during peak times in the afternoons to help with timekeeping.
On the 28 and 28X that run between Taunton and West Somerset, there will be more journeys to Bishops Lydeard to help ease crowding.
The new 54 to Yeovilton, which is home to the Fleet Air Arm Museum, will run until September on a trial basis, to help visitors travelling to the venue.
Commercial director of Buses of Somerset, James Eustace, told BBC Radio Somerset he had made a "concerted effort to listen to the community" following the previous round of changes in April.
Mr Eustace said they planned to tackle emergencies and breakdowns with "new diagnostic" equipment, as well as the delivery of three new buses, in an effort to keep more vehicles on the road.
Earlier this year, a number of routes in Somerset, including the 28, were threatened with closure, but were ultimately saved following negotiations with Somerset Council.
