New £4m classrooms plan approved by council

New classrooms will be built at a Berkshire special school as part of a £4m plan to ensure there are enough spaces for pupils.
Slough Borough Council’s executive approved a plan to build the four new classrooms at Arbour Vale School.
It said not delivering them would mean 38 children would need to be transferred to other special schools outside the borough.
The authority said building the new classrooms was the “best option” available.
It plans to spend £2.4m on a new car park and up to £1.7m building the classrooms.
Councillor Puja Bedi, the council’s lead member for education and children’s services, said: “Not delivering these places would mean that 38 children would need to be placed in special schools outside of Slough.
"With a shortage of places in local facilities some might be placed a long way from Slough,” she added.
