Plans to expand a Coventry school have been submitted after current provision was described as being at "teaching capacity".

The proposal submitted by Coventry City Council could see a number of buildings bulldozed to make way for a new education building and extra sports facilities for Finham Park 2 school.

The properties, located at Torrington Avenue in Tile Hill, were last used as a Job Centre Plus, closing in 2018 after merger with another city site.

There was a "growing need" to add 30 places to the city centre school, according to reports.

The preferred expansion would see six or seven new classrooms built, with some ready by autumn.

Office and meeting rooms would then be built on the old job centre site in the next phase set for January 2025. A site "masterplan" showed a soft outdoor P.E. space would also be created.

Also included were plans for a new “grab and go” facility that would "ease pressures" on the school’s dining hall.

Proposed designs are expected to be finalised in July.
