A 150-capacity clubhouse and new changing rooms are planned for a south Shropshire rugby club.

Clee Hill RUFC have lodged the plans with Shropshire Council.

They hope to replace the former temporary school classroom buildings at their Tenbury Road home with the new facilities which would be a “significant venue” for community events.

It follows a £110,000 pitch improvement scheme at the club which runs mens and womens first teams alongside a reserve team and a junior section.

Twelve extra parking spaces would be created under the plans.

The documents state the club has grown over the last five years.

“There is a vision to continue this growth to allow local people opportunities without needing to travel significant distances to access rugby as a player or spectator," they add.

The changing rooms would be on the ground floor of the new building and a clubhouse and viewing platform on the floor above.

The plans will be considered by Shropshire Council in due course.
