Motorcyclist dies in two-vehicle crash

A man has died after a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Somerset.

Police and paramedics were called to the A38 Taunton Road in Bridgwater about 09:30 BST. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Officers closed the road in both directions from the Huntworth Business Park roundabout to the Showground Road/Stockmoor Drive roundabout, but it has since re-opened.

"The man's next of kin has been informed and our condolences and thoughts are with them at this time," an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said.

"They are being offered support by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

"We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while we carried out enquiries," the spokesperson added.
