Volunteers and staff at a hospital have created a postbox topper inspired by the Paris 2024... and medal winner Tom Daley's knitting in the stands at the last Olympic Games.

Peterborough City Hospital said its staff, patients and visitors had been getting an "Eye-ffel" of the latest creation from the Knit and Natter group.

Inspired by the performances of Team GB athletes, they stitched together the colourful flags, Eiffel Tower, Olympic rings and mascot.

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, external thanked the group and said the topper could be found in the hospital’s main atrium.

Peterborough has been well represented in the 2024 games so far by Olympian Jake Jarman, who finished seventh in his first solo event of the Games on Wednesday.

Track cyclist Ed Lowe, who went to school in Peterborough and started his racing career with the Fenland Clarion club in Helpston, will also compete in his first Olympics on Monday.
