A vintage carousel that featured in a blockbuster film is in Guernsey for the North Show.

The event is being held at Saumarez Park and hosts a range of entertainment, a Battle of Flowers event and live music.

The vintage carousel was built in 1895 and featured in Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical movie in 2022.

Andrew Sturrock, carousel manager, said people were always "wowed by it".

He said: "The carousel has travelled all over Europe - to Athens, Belgium. We've come here, we go everywhere and anywhere in the country.

"We've done parties for celebrities with it. It's been in Matilda and it has been in some other movies."

A range of floral floats were also exhibited as part of the Battle of Flowers section of the event.

Alongside entertainment, the breastfeeding support group Bosom Buddies has been offering shelter and shade for parents who need to feed their infants.

Jo Ingrouille, Maternity Support Worker, said it was important to provide a space for those who needed it.

"With the hustle and bustle of the show, it's important that there is a space providing shelter and shade for parents to feed babies and infants," she said.

The Health Visiting Team has also been onsite to provide help and advice on sun safety and breast and bottle feeding.
