Police find £920k of cannabis in empty shop in Ayr

A cannabis farm with an estimated value of £920,000 has been found by police in Ayr.

Officers raided a disused shop on Newmarket Street on Tuesday 20 February and recovered the drugs inside.

Police Scotland said it was a "very significant recovery" and inquiries into the matter were ongoing.

Sgt Stuart Lawrie, of the Priority Policing Team in Ayr, said: "It sends a clear message that the sale and distribution of drugs will not be tolerated in our community".
