New woodland crofts to be created on Isle of Mull

Six woodland crofts are to be created on Mull following approval from the Crofting Commission.
South West Mull and Iona Development (SWMID) is behind the project at Achonnail near Tiroran.
It said it would help to tackle depopulation and climate change.
The area was once home to more than 100 people before the Highland Clearances.
The crofts would be about six acres in size in woodland areas, and potential tenants have proposed growing food to sell, developing tree nurseries, beekeeping and a sawmill.
SWMID said the project followed years of hard work by staff and volunteers.
