An interactive and multi-lingual map of Hull has been launched to provide a better understanding of the city's heritage and history.

National Initiative for Creative Education (NICE) has developed the project, which features audio and video recordings.

The "Hullitage" map, external is available online in Polish, Arabic, Romanian and Russian as well as English.

The project has been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Magda Moses, the creative director of NICE, told the BBC: "When I came to Hull I thought there were so many amazing places but I couldn’t find information.

"If your English isn’t good then having everything in one place is fantastic and we chose the four languages because they're the most spoken according to the recent census."

The online map allows users to click on an address to get directions but it also brings up information about nearby landmarks, famous people and events.

NICE is also looking for the input of "Hullensians" to develop the project and wants to showcase "Hull voices and Hull accents".

Officials said they would apply for further funding to expand the area the map covers and introduce other technology such as QR codes to make the service more accessible.
