Strike action has been averted at a Teesside housing company following the acceptance of a new two-year pay deal.

The GMB and Unite unions had been in dispute with management at Beyond Housing after their members rejected previous pay offers.

Staff at the firm have agreed to the latest offer of a 7% increase this financial year.

The rise has also been backdated to April, with a further 5% rise in 2024/25.

The settlement will be applied to all staff across the board.

A spokesman for Beyond Housing said: “We are pleased that our two-year pay offer, which recognises the hard work and dedication of colleagues, has been accepted.”

The company, which has offices in Redcar, employs about 800 staff and manages more than 15,000 homes.

In August Unite regional officer Sharon Bailey claimed the firm had a “high handed attitude” and was in danger of “sleepwalking” into industrial action.

Beyond Housing said its resources were limited and it had to “get the balance right” between recognising the work of staff and protecting front-line services, investing in homes, meeting new regulations and managing the impact of inflation on the business.
