New website to build on global Jersey connections
- Published
Ministers want to create a global online network of people connected to Jersey, which will also benefit the island.
The initiative, called Jersey Connections, wants to hear from anyone who has previously lived in the island, but then moved away.
The website aims to create a database of people with strong island links, including through birth, work or education.
The government hopes the network will promote Jersey around the world as a place to live and work.
'Greatest ambassadors'
Ministers say, over time, Jersey Connections will allow people to connect virtually and in-person, share stories and experiences, and stay in touch with developments on the island.
Deputy Carolyn Labey, Jersey’s Assistant Minister for External Relations, said: “There is undoubtedly a large reserve of goodwill towards Jersey amongst those with origins and experiences in the island, who have subsequently moved abroad.
"Members of this global community can be our greatest ambassadors.
"We need to better understand this network first, and the launch of the Jersey Connections will allow us to understand more about the make-up and spread of our diaspora, and how we can support them."
Members can sign up to the network by completing a form on the Jersey Connections webpage, external.
