A man has been arrested after sustaining head and facial injuries in a "violent disorder" in Bristol.
Police said he had been chased by four men with weapons in the Inns Court Lane area of Filwood at around 14:50 BST on Thursday.
The man, in his 20s, was assaulted and taken to hospital. He has since been released and now remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Police said the four people who chased him were described as white, wearing balaclavas and dark clothing and carrying "weapons described as sticks or knives".
A knife has been seized following searches of the area.
Officers also carried out door-to-door enquiries and are appealing for witnesses to get in touch with further information.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "In response to an increase in knife crime a dedicated team of police officers and staff are focusing on identifying those who pose the biggest risk in a bid to divert, disrupt or detain them.
"We're also running intelligence-led high–visibility patrols, weapons sweeps of parks and open spaces and school education visits.
"We are working with partners across education, health and social care, and local authorities through our local Violence Reduction Partnerships to ensure we are taking a holistic approach, considering the age and vulnerability of some of those involved."
