Plans for almost 100 new homes in village

The houses are set to go on land off Merrington Road in Bomere Heath

Plans have been announced to create almost 100 homes in a village near Shrewsbury.
Wain Estates (Land) Limited has submitted outline plans for the development on land off Merrington Road in Bomere Heath.
The proposal is for up to 98 properties, with 15% classed as affordable.
Concerns over highway safety and the scale of the development were raised during a public consultation, but the developer's agent said these had been addressed.
The housing scheme would include walking and leisure routes, wildflower planting and a new wetland feature, and would not appear out of character, the planning documents state.
Access to the site would be through land between two recently developed blocks of housing, with some hedgerows in Merrington Road requiring removal.

Developers say 15% of the homes on the proposed estate would be affordable
In total, 60 responses were received following a consultation, with other concerns including drainage, the impact on the landscape and infrastructure capacity.
The outline plans have been submitted to Shropshire Council for consideration.
