Teenager on e-scooter killed in crash with ambulance

A teenager riding an e-scooter has died in a crash with an ambulance in North Ayrshire.

The incident happened on the A78 at about 02:35, between the Pennyburn roundabout and the junction with the B799 at Kilwinning.

The 19-year-old man died at the scene. No-one in the ambulance was injured.

Police Scotland said the road was closed for about six hours and inquiries into the incident were ongoing.

Sgt Jim Dewar said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died and everyone affected by this crash."
