A nine-year-old has been left "frightened to leave the house" after she was shot with an airgun in a racially aggravated assault, police say.
Avon and Somerset Police said the girl was hit three times by an air gun pellet in an incident in Bristol on 2 September, during which a racial comment was used.
Police said the pellets did not cause any serious physical injury, but she was left "traumatised" by the attack.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses of the assault, which happened at around 13:30 BST in Chakeshill Drive, to come forward. They also want to speak to anyone who has dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage of the incident, or the moments leading up to it immediately afterwards.
The offender was described as a white male, estimated to be 17-18 years old, around 5ft 11in (1.8m), with dark blonde hair and a slim face.
He was reportedly wearing a "distinctive" blue padded coat and riding a black electric scooter with white writing.
Police also believe a second offender was involved in the incident.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "We have launched an investigation into the incident, are supporting the victim and her family, and have referred them to Stand Against Racism and Inequality for support.
"CCTV and house-to-house enquiries have been carried out."
