Islanders have been urged to stay away from an area in Guernsey due to a fluid spill on the road.

Guernsey Police said officers were called to an incident at the Halfway filter junction in Les Banques at about 13:35 GMT on Monday.

The force said the spill was hydraulic fluid and crews from Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene.

A police spokesperson said sand had been put down and people were advised to avoid the area.
