A dispersal order has been put in place around a town centre in Nottinghamshire after a rise in anti-social behaviour.

There has been an increased police presence in Sutton-in-Ashfield town centre in recent weeks in an effort to combat an increase in street drinking.

On Thursday, a dispersal order was issued to empower officers to order people out of the area.

The order will be in place for 48 hours until 13:00 BST on Saturday.

A social media post by Ashfield Police said that anyone over the age of 10 found to be acting in an anti-social manner can be given a notice to leave the area for up to 48 hours.

If they were to return while it was in place, they could be arrested and prosecuted for breaching the order.
