The September States of Alderney meeting has been cancelled because there was "only a small number of non-urgent items" to be discussed, the Presidents Office has said.

The next meeting will be on 16 October, when in addition to the Billet items, Chief Pleas will be invited.

William Tate, the President of the States of Alderney, apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Alderney States member, Alex Snowdon, said he was disappointed to hear the meeting had been cancelled.

He posted on X, formerly known as Twitter:, external "Disappointing to learn another States meeting is cancelled. We have major challenges for the island."
