Airspace restrictions for German state visit

Aircraft and drones will be subject to extended flying restrictions during the state visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Thames Valley Police confirmed the airspace controls would be in place on 3 and 4 December over Windsor, as well as parts of east Berkshire, south Buckinghamshire and north Surrey.
The force said it was working alongside the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead council, the royal household and other key agencies to ensure the event runs safely with minimal disruption.
The state visit, which will run will run from 3 to 5 December, will be the first by a German president to the UK in 27 years.

Supt Adrian Hall, of Thames Valley Police's joint operations unit, said: "Police drones, alongside support from the Civil Aviation Authority and National Air Traffic Services, will help us to enforce these restrictions.
"We have resources and tactics ready to deal with breaches, but we are willing to discuss requirements with anyone needing to fly a drone for legitimate reasons."

In September, the force said it made six arrests in relation to drones being flown in restricted areas in Windsor during Donald Trump's state visit to the UK.
In 2023 King Charles made his first state visit to Germany since becoming monarch.
