A 19-year-old has been handed a custodial sentence after admitting violent disorder during a riot earlier this summer.

Lennox Crockett, from Middlesbrough, travelled to Hartlepool on 31 July and engaged in disorder which broke out in the town.

Crockett, of Denham Green, also pleaded guilty to possession of class A, B and C drugs.

He was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders institution at Teesside Crown Court on Monday.

By the end of August, Cleveland Police had arrested more than 110 people following riots in Hartlepool and then Middlesbrough on 4 August.

The disorder followed the killing of three girls at a dance event in Southport, Merseyside.
