Almost 70 residents have objected to resubmitted plans to build 120 homes beside a major road.

The previous application for land by the A5 in St George, Telford, was withdrawn after more than 100 letters of objection were lodged in January.

The new application to Telford and Wrekin Council said "the collective feedback has led to a number of changes being made to the proposal", with a new junction among the plans.

But residents claim they've suffered years of "continual development of large housing estates all of which remain unfinished".

Montague Property originally applied for planning permission in October, seeking to develop land adjacent to a bypass to create a three-storey block of flats.

New plans propose a designated pedestrian crossing point over the A5, with a cycle route connecting the site to Ashley Road.

Other features include an additional sewage treatment plant and ecological enhancements.

In a planning statement a representative said: “Much of the consultation feedback related to specific building plots shown on the 2023 site layout.

"As this is an outline application, we have amended the indicative site layout plan so that it now shows development parcels only.

"We believe this reflects more accurately what we are trying to achieve with this application,” they said.

Residents said traffic in the borough was already "busy" and connected to the "problematic Limekiln Roundabout" which is waiting for new white lines and the subject of local complaints.

One stated that previous housing developments in area had posed a threat to wildlife.

"The proposed land is of historical importance along with being land used by wildlife such as foxes, bats and buzzards."

Another said the proposed development was not in "keeping with the natural existing village-style residential area”.

Anyone who wishes to make a representation has until 30 August.
