A man from Guernsey is reminding people about water safety in a unique way.

Alan Jenner, outdoor and adventure sports officer for the Guernsey Sports Commission, has been paddle-boarding around the island dressed in an inflatable T. Rex costume which has been dubbed Risky Rex.

Mr Jenner, one of the most qualified water safety instructors in the Channel Islands, said he hoped his adventures would help people in the future when taking to the water.

Guernsey Coastguard recently urged islanders to prioritise safety when heading to the sea.

Mr Jenner said: "I've seen a lot over the last two or three weeks that has made me concerned that we are not taking water safety seriously."

He added that, despite the costume being a bit of fun, there is a more serious message behind it.

He said: "We need to offer more guidance to adults and children.

"I'll definitely be doing more trips around the island as Risky Rex just as that visual reminder that we shouldn't be taking our chances with the water."
