Drivers warned of overnight closures for HS2 work

A mix of overnight lane, slip road and full A46 closures are set to start near Kenilworth from 26 September

Drivers using a main road in Warwickshire are being warned of possible disruption from several overnight closures due to work by HS2.
The firm had previously been working on the A46 Kenilworth Bypass in Warwickshire to move a 14,500-tonne box structure to carry the railway under the road, which was completed earlier this year.
The latest work, from 26 September to 20 October, will see final safety, central reservation and utility work completed on the road ahead of all traffic management being removed, a spokesperson said
The affected stretch is from Stivichall Interchange (Festival Island) to the Thickthorn Island (A452) and the southbound slip road at Stoneleigh.
The work will happen between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 BST, with extra noise through the night due to the increased construction activity, the spokesperson warned.
It will involve a combination of full road, slip road and lane closures:
Friday 26 September, two lanes shut northbound between Thickthorn and Stoneleigh
Saturday 27 September, southbound slip closed on to the A46 at the Stoneleigh junction and two lanes shut between Festival Island and Thickthorn
Saturday 4 October, Sunday 5 October, Saturday 18 October and Sunday 19 October - a full overnight closure of the A46 between Festival Island and Thickthorn Island
Monday 20 October, the southbound slip at Stoneleigh closed and two lanes south between Stoneleigh and Thickthorn
There will be diversion routes in place for lorries and other local traffic during the closures, the spokesperson said.
