Murder charge after death of 82-year-old man

A man has been charged with murder following the death of an 82-year-old man in Derby.

Gerald Ring was found with stab wounds following reports of an assault in Whitecross Gardens, off Kedleston Road, at about 14:20 BST on Saturday. He was taken to hospital but died on Tuesday.

Derbyshire Police said British man Julian Donoher, 50, of Whitecross Gardens, has been charged with Mr Ring's murder.

Mr Donoher was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The force added Mr Ring's family were being supported by specialist officers during this time.

Officers remain keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone who has any information.
