Man arrested after fatal car and van crash

A man has been arrested after a woman in her 90s died in a crash between a car and van in Shropshire.
She was a passenger in a silver Mercedes C220 that was involved in the crash with a white Ford Transit van on the A442 near Quatt in Bridgnorth at about 15:15 BST on Sunday.
The car driver, a man, was taken to hospital while a passing ambulance crew came across the scene and stopped to help before being joined by more paramedics and an air ambulance.
The 39-year-old man who was arrested was held on suspicion of causing death by careless driving whilst being impaired, West Mercia Police said.
The woman was confirmed dead at the scene and the car driver was treated before being taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton for more treatment, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
