A section of a main road in Surrey is set to be closed in both directions as a £317m junction upgrade continues.

The A3 northbound will be closed from the M25 Junction 10 (Wisley interchange) to the Painshill exit from 21:00 BST on Friday until 09:00 on Saturday morning.

National Highways says the closures are to facilitate "junction improvement works".

A diversion is in place at Ockham which leads on to the A3 northbound.

Regular temporary closures have been taking place as part of a wider project to improve Junction 10, which is the busiest stretch of the M25.

The National Highways project, which is due for completion next spring, will see an additional lane added to the A3 and improvements made to the A245 Seven Hills junction and Painshill Roundabout at Cobham.
