A zoo has issued an appeal for help after one of its barn owls flew off during a birds of prey display.

Dudley Zoo said Echo flew away from the castle courtyard on Wednesday.

Keepers had managed to track her movements over the next day but have now lost sight of her.

"She may still be on the zoo site but as we haven't seen her for a little while, we have to consider she may now be in the local area," a spokesperson said.

The zoo added: "We need the power of social media to help us. Please help us get her back."

Barn owls have a distinctive heart-shaped white face, white chest and a mottled grey and golden back and wings.

Echo is wearing a blue identification ring on her left leg.

Any possible sightings should be reported to the zoo.
