Hotel 'fully operational' after fire at storage sheds

A fire broke out at storage sheds above the Salthouse Hotel on Wednesday evening

The Salthouse Hotel in Ballycastle, County Antrim, has said it is "fully operational" following a fire at a group of storage sheds located above the hotel.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the blaze on Dunamallaght Road at 22:08 BST on Wednesday.

Seven fire appliances and 56 firefighters attended the incident.

In a statement on Thursday, the hotel confirmed that the fire was contained to the sheds and their hotel premises were not impacted and remains fully open.

The hotel thanked the emergency services for their "swift response" and said if any visitors have any concerns or questions, to please contact the hotel directly.

In a statement, the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) said firefighters are continuing to deal with a blaze but operations were scaled back on Thursday.

"Three fire appliances and one water tanker remain at the scene on Thursday.

"The incident has been scaled back; however, firefighting operations are likely to continue throughout the day," the statement said.
